CDU-Menzies medical school gets funding, but existing med school’s future location uncertain
The Federal Government has promised Charles Darwin University $24.6 million over four years to establish a medical school in partnership the Menzies School of Health Research from 2026, dependent on the development of a medical school curriculum and accreditation by the Australian Medical Council, but there was no explanation of what will happen to the existing medical school based at CDU.
Govt releases plan for NT AFL team, $1b in spending on stadiums
The Lawler Government has proposed spending close to $1 billion in today’s dollars on building a new Darwin City football stadium along with upgrades to other regional grounds to support a new Territory AFL team, which a taskforce believes could begin playing in seven to 10 years, while disgraced former AFL boss and casino director Andrew Demetriou has joined the taskforce to help win an AFL licence for the team.
