  1. 2016-20 NTG ALP Treasurer Nicole Manison was the worst Australian political financial manager, NT debt ballooning from $1.6B to $8B, yet Manison will walk away with impunity. So wrong as 100,000’s people suffer from her lack of qualifications and due diligence. Appalling behaviour allowed in a broken NTG political system.

  2. Further to the latest Commsec Report this week about the Northern Territory Economy, the rates of insecure employment and staff turnover in the NT Public Service contributes to reducing and or stagnating population growth in the Northern Territory, which in turn, reduces Northern Territory economic growth.

Sophisticated, non weak and empathetic Northern Territory politicians would direct and mandate that the NT Commissioner for Public Employment and all Chief Executive Officers in NT Government Departments to create more permanency and job security in the Northern Territory Public Service for thousands of non executive NT Public Servants.

This would reduce the current over 25 per cent of non-executive NT public servants in non-permanent employment positions.

Since the year 2001 when the NT Labor Government has been in power for over 20 years out of the 24 years, permanency (secure employment) in the Northern Territory Public Service for non-executive NT public servants, has significantly declined from around 90 per cent down to 70 per cent.

In the 2022-23 NT public service State of Service report it is noted that in the 12-months months from July 1 2022 to June 30 2023, 6,410 Northern Territory public servants – 0r 26.7 per cent – ended their employment with the Northern Territory Public Service.
