how about once all these houses are completed, they get handed over to whichever family in full then they are responsible for all the maintenance thus saving future governments the cost of maintaining? plus giving families a sense of ownership?
The joint program equates to NT government needing to add $2Billion to their existing debt.Homelands have always been of doubtful value as they frequently sit unoccupied and are uneconomical to manage,maintain and provide services to. They should be the responsibility of the land councils.
