Australia’s population to double by 2070s

Australia’s population could nearly double over the next five decades despite a projected slowdown in the annual growth rate, Sky News reports. Social Researcher and McCrindle Advisory Director Ashley Fell says New South Wales is projected to remain the nation’s largest state. “Following closely behind them will be Victoria, which is projected to reach a population of around 8 million people, while Queensland is projected to reach over 6 million by 2032,” she said. “These latest projections show us that in the decades to come, Australia will be older than we are today and bigger than we are today.”
